Wake Up Sooner

If you read only one thing on this website, read this.

A foundational teaching attributed to Bashar

TheFormula.

Five steps for deciding what to do, acting fully, loosening your grip on the result, and using whatever comes next as information.

Bashar presents this as the Follow Your Excitement Formula. You do not have to accept its metaphysical explanation to test the framework in your own life.

The 60-second version

Most of the framework fits on one screen.

  1. 1
    Follow your highest available excitement.

Even when it is small. Treat genuine excitement as a directional signal.

  2. 2
Act on it to the best of your ability.

Take the action as far as you honestly can.

  3. 3
    Drop insistence on the outcome.

Care about the action. Release the demand that it must unfold the way you pictured.

  4. 4
Remain in a positive, constructive state.

Whatever happens, look for the next useful response instead of declaring the path ruined.

  5. 5
Investigate the beliefs beneath fear and doubt.

Find the assumption creating the reaction. Decide whether you still choose it.

Excitement points. Action moves. Detachment leaves room. Your state shapes the next move. Beliefs explain the resistance.

The part people skip

Step 3 changes everything.

You can follow your excitement and work incredibly hard while still making yourself miserable if you secretly decide the action is only valid when it produces one specific result.

Act fully. Prefer boldly. Insist on nothing.

That is different from having no goals. A goal can organize action. Insistence turns the goal into a condition for your peace. In Bashar’s framing, the exciting thing may sometimes exist primarily to get you moving toward something you could not have predicted from where you began.

Go deeper

Five steps. Five common misunderstandings.

01

Follow the excitement

Act on what feels most alive — now.

Of the options actually available to you in this moment, notice which carries the most genuine excitement, curiosity, aliveness, or creative pull. Then move toward it.

What this does not mean

This is not “do whatever feels good.” The action still lives inside your real abilities, responsibilities, integrity, ethics, and circumstances.

Ask yourself

What can I actually act on right now that feels most alive?

02

Go as far as you can

Do it to the best of your ability.

Use the skills, time, imagination, resources, and energy you honestly have. Take the action as far as you can take it. When you can go no farther, look again for the next available excitement.

What this does not mean

This is not perfectionism. “Best” means your available best in this moment — not an imaginary version of you with infinite time, money, certainty, or energy.

Ask yourself

What is the next honest action I can take with what I have?

03

Release the outcome

Give the action everything. Demand nothing from the result.

This is the hinge of the entire framework. Bashar’s teaching is unusually explicit here: act fully while dropping insistence that reality must deliver the outcome, path, timing, or form your physical mind predicted.

What this does not mean

Detachment is not indifference. You can prefer an outcome, plan for it, and care deeply — while releasing the demand that this one result must happen for the action to have been worthwhile.

Ask yourself

Can I do this fully without requiring it to turn out a particular way?

04

Stay constructive

Choose your state before circumstances choose it for you.

The teaching asks you to remain in a positive state regardless of what occurs. A grounded way to practice that is to stay available to meaning, learning, redirection, or useful action even when an outcome is unwanted.

What this does not mean

This does not require pretending pain, loss, disappointment, or injustice is “good.” The experiment is whether you can meet what happened without surrendering your ability to respond constructively.

Ask yourself

If this is not the outcome I wanted, what is still available to me now?

05

Investigate the belief

When fear appears, ask what you must believe for the fear to make sense.

Fear, doubt, contraction, and resistance become information. Instead of fighting the feeling, trace it backward: what definition, assumption, or belief would make this reaction logical? Then decide whether that belief still fits who you prefer to be.

What this does not mean

The goal is not to attack yourself for having fear. The belief is something to notice, examine, and — if it no longer serves — release or replace.

Ask yourself

What would I have to believe is true in order to feel this way?

Do not just read it

Run the Formula on one real decision.

Pick something small enough that you can act today. You are not trying to prove Bashar’s worldview. You are testing what happens when you use the framework deliberately.

  1. 01

What available option feels most alive or genuinely exciting right now?

  2. 02

What is the fullest honest action I can take with what I have?

  3. 03

What outcome am I secretly demanding — and can I turn that demand back into a preference?

  4. 04

If reality answers differently, can I stay curious enough to find the next useful move?

  5. 05

If fear or doubt appears, what belief would make that reaction completely logical?

Why this belongs on Wake Up Sooner

The Formula is another way to notice sooner.

You notice excitement before automatically choosing obligation. You notice attachment before turning a preference into a demand. You notice the story underneath fear before assuming the story is reality.

The point is not to become someone who never feels fear, disappointment, or uncertainty. The practice is catching the moment those reactions become visible — and choosing what to do next.

Source & framing

What is Bashar’s teaching, and what is ours?

Direct teaching: Bashar Communications currently publishes the Formula as five steps: act on excitement, act to the best of your ability, hold no insistence about the outcome, remain in a positive state, and continually investigate and replace unpreferred belief systems.

Wake Up Sooner interpretation: The explanations, questions, examples, and the language of using the Formula as a decision framework on this page are editorial interpretation. They are offered as a way to test the teaching, not as proof of its metaphysical claims.

Bashar is presented by Darryl Anka as a channeled consciousness. Wake Up Sooner can document what the source teaches without requiring a visitor to accept a particular explanation for the source of the material.
